About Christina Brodie

Born on April 18th 1974 in Bristol, England, to Welsh and German parents, I grew up on the Somerset coast. . I studied fashion and textiles at Winchester School of Art, Hampshire, and garden and landscape design at Cannington College, Somerset, taking up botanical painting in 1998.

For several years I was a botanical artist living on Exmoor, during which time I produced the paintings for my book 'Drawing and Painting Plants'. I now live in Central London.

My interests include botany, chemistry, geology, geometry, maps and cartography, calligraphy and typography, heraldry, subtropical and tropical plants, ceramics, and botanical art. For years I have tried to reconcile all these diverse interests, finding the various artistic media that I now practise the best means of accomplishing this!

I am also musical; I play keyboard and guitar and write experimental-, folk- and country-inspired songs. It's possible that I may make a selection of my recordings available on the Web in the near future.
